Mirror, Mirror . . .

Here is my idea of a Cute Card Thursday. The theme was Mirror Mirror. I know I didn't have to actually use a mirror, but I had this stamp set called Slumber Party that I have been wanting to play with forever and today I took the opportunity. I also have this stamp set called Be Yourself. I don't really like it much but I do like the sentiment on it that says, "Be Yourself . . . everyone else is taken". I just think that is the cutest saying. Anyway, I used Whoops A Daisy paper packet, some sparkly ribbon that I got to make my daughter's wedding favors with and a shiny silver bitty brad. The sentiment I typed out. I used Ocean and Hydrangea inks.
As always thanks for tuning in.

Color Chef Challenge #4 - put on your sunglasses it's bright in here!

Here is my entry into KJ's Stamp Pad color chef challenge #4. Is it bright enough. Thankfully the beach babe on the card has her sunglasses on. We were to use baby pink, bubblegum, Watermelon white and black. I used bubblegum B&T from Cutie Pie, one of my favorite paper packets and my very first purchase with CTMH. the cardstock is watermelon. I got it out of my Whoops a daisy paper packet. The shells are from Footprints stamp set and the beach babe and sentiment are from Do Nothing stamp set. It was fun making this card.

All that fur

This is Darby. Isn't she just the sweetest little thing. My daughter put this big bow on her from some tissue paper she got from a gift. She has the prettiest eyes. And sweet, she is the sweetest most gentle dog I have ever seen. I bought her when she was 4 years old from a breeder. She lived in an air conditioned kennel and was very well loved. The one thing I object to but can't change is the fact that the breeder has their vocal cords partially stripped so they don't bark. So she is not a yappy little dog.

I wanted to show you some before and after photos of Darby. You can imagine how if neglected that fur can get seriously matted. Well it did get seriously matted so I took her in to the groomers and asked them to shave her. Of course she doesn't look like the same dog. I think she looks like a cartoon animal, but I don't know which one. Maybe it's that Mr. Winkles or something. You know the one you can't tell if it is a live animal or stuffed. She will probably be much cooler now than with all that fur. Who knew she had such long legs?
That's it for today. I have developed a nasty cough. I think it is allergies. I hope it is allergies, but something has been going around. My son-in-law brought it home, then my husband started with it, now I have it. But I still want to believe it is allergies.
Oh well, hope you enjoyed seeing photos of my little Darby, before and after.
Thanks for tuning in.

wedding gift

I have a ton of photos loading so this is going to take all night to post.

Only one of my followers, Nancy L :-), will know the bride so I don't think I have to fear the bride seeing her gift before I am ready to put it in the mail. Nancy can you believe that Ash and Veronica are 6 months apart in age and got married a month apart? They were the best buds until they started school.

This is one of those never ending photo albums. Each time you open a flap you find another flap to open. I got it almost completed and realized that I had messed up the doors in the very middle. I put a rub-on on one, so now I have to order another set of rub-ons so I can finish the gift. That's why you will see sticky notes reminding me to leave the flaps blank for rub-ons.

The bride sent us a save the date with a photo of herself and her fiance so I used that photo in the album, then I got another photo from her wedding website, called "The Knot", and I used the invitation on the album also. I used red as my accent color because there was a tiny border of red around the invitation. I kept waiting for her announcement to appear in our hometown newspaper, teeny tiny little town in southwest Virginia so I could get the details of the wedding but they never posted it. I had to jump through hoops to get my daughter's announcement put in the paper because we didn't live there any longer.
Hope you can get an idea of what it looks like from these photos.
Thanks for tuning in

Daughter's wedding album

My daughter was married last November and I finally got the photos printed to begin her album.

I have one set of pages done already. I will post those another day when I have more time. That layout is very complicated with doors and hidden photos and it would take forever to upload.

Anyway, this is my beginning layout. Everything is CTMH except the ribbon. I used the layout from Imagine called Serenade, the left side. I copied almost exactly the front cover of the Spring 2008 Idea Book. I substituted Moonstruck where there was black as that was my daughter's compliment color. As you can see from her flowers. I have the journaling block to complete. The IB uses the Big Pinks flower but all I had were pink ones and I knew that wouldn't look right so I used some Dazzling Die Cuts, some clear buttons, a couple of buttons from the holiday pack of buttons also at the top of the page. I used the Make it Count stamp set for the clock and TIME lower left and the magic moments under the photo. The clock and time I clear embossed. The little together tag I ran the word together off my computer and then glued it to a dangle tag. The ribbon is some that I got for the wedding. Got to use up those leftovers, right? The circle is a dimensional element and the letters are chipboard called DE Simple Alphabet.
Thanks for tuning in.

Extreme Happiness

Oh my goodness. I have to admit I am extremely happy with this card. It is so dag gone cute, I can't believe it. Okay, so maybe there is room for improvement, there always is, right? First of all I really like this stamp set. It is new from Close To My Heart and it is called Extreme Happiness. Yup, just like the title. I have seen these flower pot cards all over the boards and blogging world and had to try it. Our Autumn Terracotta card stock is perfect for this card. I have several other places I want to post this card since not everyone comes to my blog. Yes I know what is the matter with them? But you go where the people are right?
Thanks for tuning in.

Stamp Something Challenge

I am cutting it close I think the challenge closes tonight. It only took me three days to make this card. Everything is cut out by hand. The challenge was to use blue, green and yellow. I did. I feel like it is kind of childish, but what can I expect with these little guys. They are so cute, but I haven't found a true place for them yet.

changed the ribbon - what do you think

Several people thought I should change the ribbon so what do you think? I had to keep the white as that was one of the challenge colors.

Cute Card Thursday Challenge & color challenge

I hope it is okay to use the same card for two challenges. I couldn't use that saying about birds and stones. I think it is cruel as I love birds. I have a sweet little parrotlet. He is pale blue and about 4 inches tall. He has purple tips on his wings and on his back right above his tail feathers is a deep blue. His name is Stormy. Maybe I'll post a photo of him someday.

Anyway, here is my card for Cute Card Thursday which is Floral Fantasy and the other is a color challenge on KJs Stamp Pad. The colors we are to use are Watermelon, Sunflower, black and white. I used the flower child stamp set, intrinsic backgrounds and the brads are not really brads as they were an afterthought. I just used hole punches and covered themwith liquid glass.

It is taking forever to get this photo uploaded. Hmmmm not sure it is going to load. I have tried three times. Usually it loads while I am still on my first paragraph.

Been scrappin' all day but I can't show you what I made

Isn't it horrible when you have put so much effort into a project, but when you are done you can't share it with anyone? Have you ever been there, done that?

Heather Painchaud of Dragonfly Designs commented on my "Pay It Forward" post the other day so I worked all day and part of last evening putting together her goodies. It wouldn't be right to post it before she gets it.

Pay it Forward is where you have a post and the first 5 people to comment get a hand made goodies from you. They then have to post a Pay it Forward on their blog and do the same thing.

Penny Doucette of A Work of Heart was the first to comment and she received her goodies and promptly posted photos of it on her blog. Check it out. Just click on her name.

Just wanted you to know I have been scrappin', just can't post it yet.

Thanks for tuning in.

Tickled - uh - Purple

I know it is supposed to be pink, but I used Amethyst and Hydrangea for this card. I haven't been able to scrap anything since last week and was seriously missing it. These colors don't look as though they go together, but there are only two colors on this card. Must be the lighting. I used the Tickled Pink stamp set and a piece of B&T from Sweet Pea.

Flower Soft

I have had several requests for info on Flower Soft so I thought I would put a link here.
This is a close up of the first card I have made using the flower soft product.

I think I will have to try more with it.

Thanks for tuning in and Happy & Blessed Easter.

Pink & Brown - Cute Card Thursday Challenge

Here is my entry for the Cute Card Thursday challenge of Pink & Brown.
From Close To My Heart I used a big Pinks flower with a window charm on it, the Butterfly Wings Stamp set, the pink B&T and the colonial White cardstock from Life Delights Level 2 papaer packet.
The Brown polka dot B&T and the striped B&T under the window charm came from a kit I got at Walmart.
The flower stems and flower pot are from Flower Soft. I need some of that curly type strands to fill in the pot or something.

Card for Vicki's blogaversary

Vicki Wizniuk is celebrating her 1 year blogaversary and I made her a card. Kelly Ratcliff is a great and creative cardmaker. This one is her design. Several of my cards have been based on her designs.
Be sure to stop by Vicki's and wish her a happy blogaversary. She is giving away some awesome Close To My Heart Blog Candy.

Color Throwdown #37

Here is a card for the challenge using coral, pink and sage. The colors I used are blush, Juniper and Sorbet all Close to my Heart colors. I used the You've Got Flair stamp set. Still trying to come up with something I like about it. This isn't it either. Here is the link to the challenge site. It is called Color Throwdown - a Weekly papercrafting color challenge.

Gaudy - that is the only way to describe it

I was attempting to scraplift a card made by Kelly Jo and missed the mark by a mile.

The only way I can describe my attempt is Gaudy, guady, gaudy, gaudy gaudy.

First of all I used the July Stamp of the month from Close to my Heart called You've Got Flair. I love coloring in little spaces. I used to love to doodle and then color in my doodles so I thought this would be similar. Yup, it is similar and just like all my doodles I should have left well enough alone. Then I thought it would be elegant or dignified looking with the strips of fabric. NOT!

You can't tell in this photo but I used Versa Mark and clear embossing powder for the stamp which I thought would make it easier to color in. Then I added sparkles. What was I thinking? Maybe tacky, tacky, tacky!!!
Whatever you do, don't click on the photo.
Thanks for tuning in, I think.

Learning about Links

My friend, Penny, just gave me the instructions for linking so I thought I would give it a try. I
think it worked.

Thanks Penny!

Thanks for tuning in.

Monday morning

I don't have much time this morning, but I wanted to post these cards I made yesterday. Katie Renz had made one and posted it on our CTMH Bulletin Board. I thought it was darling and wanted to make some like it. Hers was quite a bit more involved than these, but I wanted to make quite a few so I streamlined. Apparently round cards are the in thing right now. I like to make two circles score the one I am using for the back and then glue just the area that I have scored. I have seen many different ways of making them, but this is the one I like best. Boy these images take a long time to load.
I need to get Alec out to the Marine Science center this morning for testing so I will say happy day for now.
Thanks for tuning in.

Tender Tags - June Stamp of the Month CTMH

These are the Stamp of the Month from Close To My Heart. They are darling little tags. Would be real cute with some bling. I have a question for anyone that might be able to help. The ink coverage was not so good and I am not sure why. Anyone have any ideas? The sentiments were my own choosing. There were several to choose from and you can use any others that you have and like.

Citrus Challenge - Cute Card Thursday

This is probably my favorite of the day. It is NO WHERE as good as some of the other entries I have seen, but I wanted to try this out and see if I could improve my card making skills. All products are Close to my Heart, except for the punch, & sparkles. I need to learn how to color around the necks the hair underneath as it makes them look strange.

another card challenge

This is probably the least favorite of the cards I made today. The colors we were supposed to use were orange, pink and turquoise. Since I used all Close To My Heart products the colors are Ocean, Bubblegum and Orange. The ribbon was white so I ran it across my ink pad several times to get it the color I wanted. Maybe I shouldn't try to enter more than one challenge in a day.

card challenges

This card challenge was burgundy, gray and orange. I'm not sure about entering this and others that I have made today but I am going to attempt it.

This 8X3.5 card is made from a recipe in Close To My Heart's latest How-To book called Wishes. It isn't on the shelves yet, but should be available in June. The stamp set used most on this card is World's Best Dad. It is the Stamp of the Month for April. Just in time to buy it for making cards for Father's day and for doing layouts of that special day with your family. The other stamp set is Just Like You and the card stock is Vineyard Berry, Orange and Grey Wool. All products are CTMH.

Barbie turns 50

I got a laugh out of this one and had to share it. What "No Bon Bons"?

Life Delights Memory Showcase

Would you believe it has taken me about a year to finally get this put together? I would start it and then get frustrated and put it up, then take it back out and attempt it again. Penny Doucette got hers put together and showed me that it really can be done without the photos being in it. The instructions tell you to put everything together with the photos in place so you kind of have to work around that. It really is a very pretty album. I just don't know what I will do with it.
On another note. I don't know if it is this way all over the country but here in Jacksonville tree surgeons give away mulch or wood chips. The guy called me about an hour ago and said he had a load of pine chips and did I still want them. Yes indeed I did. I just got a truck load of Pine Chips and needles dumped in my yard. I will have to do all the work of spreading it out, but I didn't have to go pick it up, find a truck to pick it up with and it was free. My neighbor just told me she'd buy some from me. Nope, she can have all she can haul away, but I can't charge her for something I didn't pay for myself. I am excited. My house is starting to smell like pine. Maybe I will take photos after the yard I all done and post them here. Just maybe.
Thanks for tuning in.
