pet peeve, frustration or impatience

Computer technology is a wonderful thing, except that I have become so SPOILED that I want everything to be instantaneous.
I rely way to much on my computer.
If I click on a website and it doesn't download immediately I click to a different tab and check out some other site while it is downloading. Am I the only one that has learned this impatience? I can't even blog hop or blurf (blog surf) without being impatient. If a blog takes too long to upload, I move on. I miss some great artwork because of my frustrating type A personality. Have you noticed how some blogs take forever to load ( not sure if it is up or down)? I used to have a site using "The Cutest Blog on the Block" or something like that, but I was afraid it was taking too long to open, upload or download or whatever so I switched to a Google based blog background. I hope others aren't finding that my blog takes too long to open.
Oh well, Maybe it is ADD or just a short attention span.

I'm not going to beat up on myself any longer. I am going blurfing and try not to get too frustrated with the speed of things.
Thanks for tuning in and listening to my rant.

  1. Hey, Leslie! With regard to pet peeve, frustration, or impatience, I think the answer might be all of the above. And yes, every now and again, I get a little annoyed, too. While I have no clue as to why some blogs are slower than others, I have observed that many of the blogs that are slow to load have a lot of widgets (especially Flash-based ones) in their sidebars.I think the resolution of their photos might have something to do with it, too. I try to watch the load speed of my blog and have noted that sometimes the "My Followers" widget is slow to load but the rest of it comes up OK. I dunno but understand where you're coming from. With all that, have a great day!!

  2. Hi Leslie,

I understand - there is one blog that I just LOVE but it does take forever to load. It's because of the music. I never listen to the music - but I have to wait for it to fully load before I can turn it off and finally get to read the blog!

Last weekend I spent the day cleaning up my computer. I was able to improve my available space from 3% to a whopping 57% and it really did speed up the blog loading! So - some of it must have been on my end of the deal.

When I start to feel anxious about a s-l-o-w blog I use the moment to take a full, deep, cleansing breath. It brings me back to the moment (away from my frustration) and when I'm finished, the blog is usually ready for me.

    Enjoy the weekend!

  3. LOL! I love your post today. I try to keep my widgets to a minimum because as Kathi posted, those seem to be one of the culprits. My biggest pet peeve is the music on some blogs. Not only does it make a page really slow to load or sometimes even crash my pc, I often don't even like the song that's playing. Once the page finally loads I need to scroll to find the offending player, which is usually hidden somewhere towards the end of the sidebar, to stop it so I can browse in peace. Like you, sometimes it's not even worth it and I move on (but never from your site).

  4. Leslie I am just so surprised you are saying you are impatient.I would have never guessed that about you. I think we all have a certain degree of allowing things to bother us.I find that I have more patience now then I did say two years ago.I still get annoyed but not as bothered by the little things.I am going home to clean up my blog...hope mine is extremely slow!
